We’ve had a wonderful year of driving vacations which is highly unusual for us as we are a flying-kind-of-family. What can I say, Jolie turned 2 and she was no longer FREE to fly in the US-of-A! So we took to the road this year and didn’t look back.

We’ve passed through many states and tried to capture it as we went, but my husband likes to speed on by so it wasn’t always possible! This picture of a Kentucky sign is a perfect example…
either too late or too early!
Overall, there is something about reaching that destination or crossing over a certain point that gives us satisfaction as we travel by road. We like to see what welcomes us; what the state wants us to know as soon as we arrive.

One of my favorite states to drive into is New Hampshire, but it was more about what waited for us right over the state line – tax-free liquor!
Although New Hampshire also has my favorite logo. As a former Mass-hole (what folks from Massachusetts are called) we make fun of the New Hampshirans for this but really you have to appreciate the candidness of it all.

Live free or die!
We had some not-so-exciting state signs too, like Florida, but there were plenty of other interesting signs along the way!

Does Disney World count as its own state sign?
In the end, we of course always came home. I’m sure depending on your home state or country line, you too enjoy seeing it as much as we do. For us, when the toddler says “are we almost there mommy?” we can finally say yes, almost. And trust me, very little beats that feeling when driving for so many hours!
